Matildha.

Among the freelance work, I’ve been slowly developing my own ideas.  One specifically featuring the girl above.  Right now, I have no idea what it’s called, simply that her name is Matildha.  She has been floating around since grade 10, and has evolved since then.

The image above was just a quick sketch I did on the plane to London.  Nothing special, just to be included in a pitch package.  I won’t take credit for the background, I just added the blur and cutout filter on a picture from google.  Let me know what you think!

Below is a selection of drawings from 2005 until now, showing the progression of her design and my skills.  It’s fun looking back on how I have grown as an artist.

Page 4.

A page I recently finished over the break for the Dreamgirl pitch - was a challenge to do, with all the dialogue and panels.  I should try and speed up the process, but I have some time to get better.  Anyways, enjoy.

Holiday time.

I’ve been working a lot over the past week and a bit - juggling a few projects over the winter break. It’s great, I am just incredibly busy with work I can not show just yet (doesn’t help that I am away from home). So instead, I have a rough panel from my own project. Can’t say the image is very interesting, but it’s all I want to show right now.

Anyways, happy holiday’s everyone, hope you have a great one!

Fairy, plus etc.

A sketch I did while watching a documentary about Marc Davis (designer and animator of Malicifent, Cruella DeVille, and of course Tinkerbell) in animation lecture.

Break has started, I hope to get some more polished art done soon - but until then, enjoy this. Just something I whipped up tonight/this morning before I head off to bed. Matildha is an idea I’ve had since grade 10, I’m still developing her, but I plan on getting something to materialize in 2009.

Hellboy.

Just something I found when I was searching through my hard drive. When I am working on an illustration, I often do color roughs, to get a quick picture of what I want the colors to be like in the final image - this being one. I intended to finish it but I never got around to it - perhaps once the semester is over I will revisit it.

Fumigation.

Yeah, I know, two posts in two days - actually it’s not that surprising, but oh well. Here are some layout breakdowns for Scott Caple’s class. Managed to get these knocked out in 8 hours. I’m quite proud of them! Inspired by Darren Rawlings‘ work, and The Incredibles.

Bridal.

Painted in Sound design (with a mouse). Textures found in Scott Caple’s handout folder - make due with what you have, right? Anyways, enjoy - next week should be fun.
